In case you haven’t looked at a calendar in the last few days, it is now August. Surprise! The year 2017 is now 7/12’s of the way over.
What have I done this past year?
Work – Notable skills include always smiling/keeping a pleasant demeanor and not saying anything sassy. Even when someone is being incredibly, incredibly rude.
“Yes ma’am. I understand that you
didn’t look up any directions before you left to the office, or even call to tell us you were going to be late got lost. But it is now one hour past your appointment, and you need to stop cursing at me and leave so I can go home office hours are over now so we do have to reschedule.”
Homework – One day, I won’t have any more homework to do, and that will be an absolutely glorious day.
Sleep – My favorite hobby.
Snacking – My second favorite hobby.
Gym – My one, notable, long term accomplishment this year, is that I have been going to the gym 3-4 times a week. Consistently! And -here’s the big shocker – Now I look forward to going! A big change from last year, when I was only going once a month, if that, and I didn’t like it at all.
Since its a new month, its time for new goals! I tried New Year’s resolutions and in my personal experience they don’t work. Plus, who has time to wait for New Year’s to roll around?
Thanks to one of my classes this summer, I’ve learned allllll about how to set goals. SMART goals. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and I can’t for the life of me remember what the T stands for. So for the month of August, I will be setting SMAR goals. Smar goals for a smar person.
- Get to the gym in the mornings before work. There are some people I talk to who are just morning people. They wake up at 5am on their own and finish all the things on their daily to-do list by noon. I (as much as I enjoy sleeping) would like to be one of those people. Every once in a while I can muster up the willpower to drag myself out of bed that early, and the results are fantastic! I seem to be more productive in the mornings. So the goal is to get up that early and go to the gym, at least once a week.
- Eat more snacks. But not just any kind of snacks, the right kind of snacks. So the goal is more things that are green, and less bread. I’m also looking for less processed foods too. I’m not really a salad person, so we’ll see how this one goes. It really is unfortunate, because Nutter Butters happen to be one of my favorite snack foods of all time. I guess I’ll just have to save those for special occasions.
Okay so two goals. One, two. It should be easy enough. Any tips or tricks to help me get there would be greatly appreciated!
